A Voice for Every Heart: Our Core Beliefs
At Hopeful Hearts, we aren’t just looking for "results", we are looking for connection. Our practice is built on a foundation of neurodiversity-affirming care that honors the individual child. When you work with us, you’ll see these seven core pillars in everything we do:
-
Spoken speech is only one way to share a thought. Whether a child uses a high-tech AAC device, gestures, signs, or body language, their message is important. We don’t prioritize mouth speech over other forms of expression; we prioritize the child’s ability to be understood and heard.
-
We start with the belief that every child is capable of learning, thinking, and communicating. Presuming competence isn't just a "nice idea"—it is a requirement for quality care. We assume your child has something to say and the potential to say it; our job is simply to provide the right tools.
-
Your child’s brain is wired uniquely, and that is a beautiful thing. We don’t view neurodivergence (like Autism or ADHD) as something to be "cured." Instead, we celebrate these differences and adapt our environment and strategies to support the child’s natural way of interacting with the world.
-
Therapy shouldn't be a chore or a source of stress. By meeting virtually, in a favorite community spot, or in your home, we ensure that support is accessible and fits into your real life. We lead with play and joy because we know that a child who is happy and regulated is a child who is ready to learn.
-
We don't start with a list of "weaknesses." We start with what your child loves. By building a deep connection first and focusing on their natural strengths, we create a safe space for growth. When a child feels seen and supported, better outcomes follow naturally.
-
You are the expert on your child. We don't just work with the individual child, we partner with the family. We are here to provide the coaching and "relentless advocacy" needed to change the narrative around your child’s potential at home, at school, and in the community.
What Sets Hopeful Hearts Apart?
Most clinical settings focus on what we call the "clinical vacuum"—a quiet room where skills are learned in isolation but don't always make it to the dinner table, the playground, or the grocery store. Hopeful Hearts is different.
Because we are a 100% mobile and virtual practice, we’ve traded the four clinic walls for your child’s natural environment. We bridge the gap between "therapy time" and "real life" by meeting your child exactly where they are. We never ask your child to fit into a pre-set mold; instead, we build a bespoke communication system that honors their unique wiring and fits their actual world.
A Partnership for Progress
At Hopeful Hearts, we prioritize coaching and consulting with families because we know that you are the most important part of your child’s communication journey. Every session is intentionally designed to allow for parent coaching and hands-on practice, so that you feel empowered to support your child daily.
We don’t want the progress to stop when the session ends. Within our Plan of Care, we provide specific, actionable ideas for at-home practice so your family can keep skills fresh and retained in between our meetings.
Support for Every Adventure
Beyond our regular therapy, we offer individualized consultation sessions as a core part of my service offerings. These can be booked in addition to your child’s treatment sessions, providing a focused space for just the adults.
Sometimes, parents and caregivers simply need a reminder, a fresh perspective, or the opportunity to practice a new skill with a professional by their side. That is more than okay! We provide these one-on-one sessions specifically so that every member of your child’s support team feels empowered, confident, and fully equipped to help them navigate life’s daily adventures.
