Meet Your Communication Ally: Lacy Harris, MS, CCC-SLP

Lacy wears many hats, but her favorite is being a Speech-Language Pathologist! With experience spanning schools, outpatient clinics, and private practice, Lacy founded Hopeful Hearts to bring specialized, heart-centered care directly to her community.

Education & Expertise

Rooted in South Central Kentucky, Lacy Harris brings nearly a decade of expertise to the Bluegrass State. After earning degrees from Lindsey Wilson College and Western Kentucky University, she established herself as a Kentucky-licensed and ASHA-certified leader in the field (CCC-SLP). Lacy is dedicated to a growth mindset, ensuring her practice is always informed by the most current evidence-based research. Today, she specializes in neurodiversity-affirming care and Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC), offering expert consulting and clinical support to families, fellow clinicians, and school-districts.

A Passion for AAC & Communication Autonomy

Lacy is deeply driven by the transformative power of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). While she is a PODD-trained professional specializing in the implementation of Pragmatic Organization Dynamic Display systems, her toolkit extends far beyond a single method. Lacy has extensive training and experience across a vast array of high-tech AAC applications and supports, as well as various mid- and low-tech communication resources. With a decade of specialized clinical experience, Lacy simplifies the complexities of AAC technology for families. She specializes in creating effective, integrated systems that empower children to communicate authentically across all environments—from the living room to the classroom and beyond. Our approach is bespoke, honoring each child’s individual communication style rather than forcing a standard mold.

As an avid researcher of established and emerging assistive technologies, Lacy believes that every child’s 'map' to communication is unique. She finds true satisfaction in navigating the full AAC life cycle: from diagnostic evaluations and comparative device trials to the creation of specialized communication frameworks. By utilizing aided language stimulation and modeling across diverse social contexts, Lacy moves users past simple 'requesting' and toward a life of genuine communication autonomy. Her approach integrates specialized clinical treatment with dedicated family coaching and advocacy, ensuring every individual has a voice that is both functional and expressive.

The Human Behind the Business

When she isn’t in a therapy or coaching session, Lacy is likely leaning into her own adventures—whether that’s traveling to new places, pursuing creative projects, crafting, or hosting friends and family in her home. You’ll often find her exploring with her Aussiedoodle, Boone, who is currently training for his future promotion to Chief Therapy Dog.
